Hello again.

We are in the same quandary with judges as we are with the various boards, very little info about their track record. I know it is available, a public record, but most of us even retired folk like me don't have the wherewithal to track this stuff down. This sounds to me like a perfect opportunity for a print reporter to cobble this stuff together for us in a neat package. If the print media is dwelling on the low-hanging fruit then, perhaps, the print media has seen its day and I will be very sad to see its demise. Keep this stuff coming C. W. we need your voice.

Why is anyone surprised at this? San Francisco has had a flaccid approach to crime since the 60s. Do you expect to unravel it in a month? The biggest impediment will be a cultural change in the city, which will never ever happen. I think you are saddled with disturbingly high incidence of crime against tax-paying innocent bystanders. You have no one to thank for that but yourselves.

Detain them if they are a flight risk or a public safety risk. The nature of the charge and the history of arrests and prior FTA's (failures to appear) are the factors to be considered. It is not a complex decision making process but over the years the judges (not all, but too many) have backed away from keeping repeat offenders in jail. This is the "culture" of the SF criminal justice system. Boudin did not create this loose system but he definitely worsened it. Not all counties run their courts like the ones in SF.
